Nutrient deficiency, stress, or virus?

I bought an Empress Wu hosta (grown by Proven Winners) from a local specialist nursery on July 27. It's showing some yellow discolouration and mottling along the edge of the largest leaf. It's still in the pot it came in, so I'm wondering whether it might be stress, a nutrient deficiency, or possibly a virus. It has a brand new bed waiting for it, but I don't want to plant it if it is diseased.

Many thanks for your help from this hosta newbie!

Hi,

I answered on GardenWeb too, but in case people see it here, this isn't anything to worry about. It might be a little root bound in the pot but it isn't anything serious for this time of year. Hopefully you will be able to find a home in the ground for it soon and then I'm sure it will be happier.

Happy gardening!

Chris

Thank you! I planted it yesterday and, yes, it was starting to get a bit root bound.
