Sum and Substance with HVX

Post by redcrx »

I was in a BIG box store today and they had a large group of good sized Sum and Substance. I noticed dark markings along the veins which always says "virus" to me. Then I got to thinking about frost damage.
Can you tell which this is.

The sunken patches would indicate HVX and the other thing about frost that settles into the veins is that they will only show dark when the leaves are wet. Once the leaves dry out those dark streaks will disappear.

Also you can use my technique of holding the leaves up to some light. If you see the green streaks through the leaves it is HVX.

Looking at these pictures I am 100% confident you are looking at a whole bunch of HVX infected Sum and Substance. Can you let this nursery know about it, or file a complaint with the agriculture department?

Yes, I let know there was a problem. We will see if anything happens.
