Parky's Prize HVX

Post by mkpearse »

Hi Chris and all,

I was sent from Gardenweb Forums to check with you if this hosta has HVX. I can't tell if bleeding is associated with HVX on this one. Some leaves are ok, some are not. Thank you all!

Always hate being the bearer of bad news, but yes, this is the bleeding you can see on an HVX infected plants. Some get bleeding that is a darker color and others will be a lighter color. This one the bleeding/discoloration is lighter.

Also I suggest people ignore the first set of leaves and only look at the newest and in this case the newest leaf is showing symptoms too.

Sorry, this plant has a virus :(

Chris,
Thank you so much for the confirmation! I'm on my way to get this plant far, far away from my garden. I think the good thing is it's not very big so the roots shouldn't be interfering with my other hostas. I'll be watching the rest for the next couple of years.
