Look at the gorgeous new hellebore that Andi (Doublemom) brought me for a 'garden warming' gift! Isn't it beautiful?! We had a nice visit and she brought my babies (and a few extras) down that were safely planted at her place for the move period. Got them safely in the ground then we went shopping for bamboo! Woohoo! I got three and it sounds like Andi came home with five - clumpers all.

It's getting to the end of the season - they were cleaner and fresher earlier on. I love that they gave such a long bloom cycle and take so long to fade, unlike some blooms that are out and gone in a very short time. But given their season they have to be patient and open blooms slowly and leave them open for a long time. Plus they ahve to be tough to survive the rigors of early spring's vagaies of weather. get some - you won't be disappointed.

Renaldo, this is a tissue culture plant so it was selected partially for that reason. These interspecific hybrids involving H. niger are frequently sterile and so they usually bloom for a long time. I do see some swollen carpels on this one. Will be interesting to see if any seed mature. I'm not a fan of tissue culture at all, but it's hard to argue with the attractiveness of the plant.

Wow Mike - it sure looks different than when I brought it to you a couple of weeks ago. I was amazed at the amount of blooms on it.
And I told you I was going to bring you more plants than just the ones I was babysitting for you LOL! Just wait until you get your shade garden ready, I'll do a drive-by planting some day Hee Hee!
See you next Sunday,
Andi
