We just finished collecting seeds! So we are ready for the trade.

viktoria, if I allowed all the seeds to drop I'd have lots of babies in the spring and I'm not to sure I could adopt them all out! As it looks I'm going to have plenty as they dropped some seeds already! HELP!!

I've had a patch of different Hellebores for at least 7-8 years and they propagate best by self seeding , NOT in a pot . I have never found them to be difficult or finicky with transplanting as long as they have sufficient moisture to get established . After that I found they are fairly care free if planted in a well drained area ; in a Northern climate Hellebores will take a lot more sunshine than most people realize . I love that plant for early Spring blooms when everything else is dead and dormant . I have at least 60-100 of them growing in my yard in different locations , 80% of them were self seeded plants .

I have a wonderful creamy white one that I bought years ago that is covered with fat seed pods. I am so glad that I found this group, and will go right out and cover the seed pods and capture the seeds. Seeds I can trade, as they can be mailed across the border, as plants cannot.

I would really like some seeds from doubles, as I love them but blanched at the price!!

Also I got a one last year at a plant swap that has odd little flowers that don't open wide, just look like tiny little greenish cups about 1/2" wide and deep. She said they were "foetidia" but am not sure how to spell it. Can anyone help? The plant is quite a bit taller than my other two hellebores.

That's Helleborus foetidus. Individual plants may live only a few years but will produce many seedlings. They are also fast growing compared to the types of hellebores discussed above. Really, very different plants that have little in common with plants like Helleborus x hybridus other than being in the same genus.

I would like to join the helleborus seed to senders' company.
I would like fresh seed being sent to me from anywhere likewise naturally.
At us the zone: 4-8
in this manner already other helleborus we succeeded on a forum, and they who got a seed from us.
The seed ripen in a June at us.
Helleborus may be many kind then in our garden with this method.
We may exclude the spread of the illnesses totally.

I am going to have my first hellebore blooms any day now - what should I do if I want seeds later? They are so pretty and bloom so early, I would love to have lot sof them!

Needless to say, I would love to trade seeds if someone else is willing to talk me through this!

(Oh yea, the varieties I have are all doubles, but I don't have the names handy... I can dig them out of my files if itis important to you, but I can't be sure of parentage since they are all close together)
