lost 4 heuchera this summer

Post by boops »

Lost several heuchera from the weather here. First it was cold then it got blaring hot and rainy. I think root rot. Anyone else lose theirs? My sis-in-law said the fancy ones are short lived perennials and die after a few years. My crimson curls-only one lived, lost one of my venus and a melting fire and can't find can-can. :bawl: I think too much rain did them in.

Yes, they don't do well with a lot of water and like really good drainage. We grow ours in containers with really well drained soil with great results, though sometimes a really wet winter still sets them back some.

I guess I'll dig up some of the other ones looking poorly and add some vermiculite and rough mulch to the hole and cross my fingers.
