My semps.
I built a bed specially for semps around the patio. I made the soil by mixing two parts grit with one part topsoil and planted it up last autumn and this spring.
In just two months some have changed beyond recognition, not necessarily for the better.
Here are the pics.

Very nice collection! I had not realized there were so many varieties!
I remember being surprised to read that these are also used in herbal remedies! Some call then "House Leeks".....here's some info on 'em!....p

Puts my collection to shame. How can you tell they're all different? I'm not convinced mine are.
Do you start then afresh each year?
Blush for instance had a faint blush of red on each leaf, but now that's disapeared and it just has red tips.
We call Araucaria the monkey puzzle tree here.

Oh my gosh Semperhans and Gruntfuttock !!!
I am SO IMPRESSED by BOTH collections!
Most of us here in the US were introduced to these little cuties by Grandma's garden variety "Hens and Chicks"!!
I always loved the idea of "the Mother" sending out those little runners loaded with "babes".....so much potential in those youngins'!!
You BOTH are inspiring.....I've taken on a whole new respect for this particular genus of plants! Thanks so much....keep those pictures comin'!! ......p

Wow, all of those are just incredible, but I especially love the deep reds! I've tried semps before, but unfortunately the birds around here love to EAT them. Same goes for my moss rose. Saying 'shoo' didn't work, I'm not sure what else to try.
Maybe someday they'll come out with 'bird-spray'.

I've just updated my webpage with September pictures. Someimes it's hard to believe that they are the same plants.
During the winter I will build a new semp bed which will allow me to increase my collection.
There is one I have which IMO is too good to go without a name, number 8 on the list.
Does anyone have an idea for a name for it.
