Jane, if you sow fresh seed within the next couple of months in a prepared spot in the garden and protect them from critters etc, they will germinate on their own next winter/spring. They are fairly easy but a little slow. If you want further details and other sowing options pm me or look here:

Also, I would be happy to send you some seedlings later (early September) which will also save you some time. Seed is fun, but once you get your first blooming hellebores and see how wonderful they are, it's easy to get impatient. I think it's nice to have several stages so you have both blooming plants and new bloomers each year coming along.

You all are way too sweet!
I'd love to try both IF you find the time! Let me know what you want for them and I'll send it out. Should I start the seed in the house like hosta maybe? Or sow them out?
Remember we are zone 5 here, it get cold, and a bit of snow too! FOr months! Too many months most years. At least it seems to get longer every year!
If You are serious, Pm me with cost and I'll send you my address, K?
