First Flower Bud on 2007 Seedling

Post by wzbt03 »

Anyone care to guess what color it will be?
The parent plant leaf is in the background but both the pod parent and pollen parent are unknown in the F3 or beyond plant.

wzbt03, excelent streaked pod parent candidate there with that streaked scape! Got any pollen to dab it with? Very pretty, please post the flower when it opens, I'm sure we could all use the pick me up!

Pollen

Post by wzbt03 »

I wish I would have kept some pollen from last season to play with on my seedlings.
Next year I will not make the same mistake.
Actually I have already planned on freezing some of the less common stamens for use on early flowering hosta.
My choices may come down to selfing it or using some potential pollen from Green Mouse Ears or Tiny Tears that I have been trying to force (buds on developing).
Perhaps we need a pollen bank?
