Asparagus ... 3 weeks from planting to table

I planted a new Dutch variety just three weeks ago in a raised bed well fertilised
Imagine my surprise to find enough spears for tonights dinner already available
Isn't Mother Nature wonderful? Or was it Tescos?

Lucky you, Sam! My DH has a small asparagus patch,but there is no signs of it yet. Still too early here with the cold temps and the ocassional snow.

Those asparagus shoots look just the right size. Nice and tender!

Sam, the old wisdom would have been to not pick any the first year or two! Fortunately, now "they've" decided harvesting for 3 weeks the first season is actually beneficial.

So, enjoy! Very attractive bed.

Actually it was Wonderwoman who played a practical joke on me
She bought the asparagus in Tesco's food store and stuck them into my new bed in pretence that they had grown overnight
We had a good laugh together
I am, however, hoping to have some growth by June this year

Hmm, the joke may be on Wonderwoman when the bed looks like that on its own soon enough! Good one!
