Hi,
My son and I planted our new Juniperus x pfitzeriana 'Sea Green' yesterday. I absolutely love it. Any advice?

Thanks,
J

Jeepers that is an absolute beauty
I think I want one :)
Advice? yes. Leave it alone :)
Well OK ... maybe mulch to conserve moisture?
And keep it watered for the first year until it settles?

Hi Mr Hanami,
That looks great, take look at one of my earlier posts this is the same Juniper but not SEA GREEN.
below is my earlier post
Hi,
This link is to a Juniperus X Media Pfitzerania Aurea that I have been training for a number of years it is about twenty five years old and is in my front garden and all the plant in the middle is just one plant, I am aiming to make it look like a waterfall with the cloud pads acting as rocks.
OKAY SO I'M CRAZY, but I can see it eventually working.
what do you think?
George.

Hi George,
I can’t believe that’s one plant. That’s a great idea about the waterfall effect. I LOVE IT! I never saw that photo before. Thanks for posting it again. I actually got the idea from your picture of the opening charity day.

I liked your junipers so much...I wanted to find the perfect specimen for my front yard too. The nursery that I use told me they just got it in from Oregon and I had to come down asap to see it. When I saw it I new that was the one. It’s 3’x3’. I guess ‘Sea Greens’ are suppose to reach 6’x6’. What size is your Juniperus X Media Pfitzerania Aurea?

Thanks,
J

J that is great its so unusual. I think the only thing that you would need to do is keep the foliage pads trimmed neat. I would love one of those, a real focal point. :D

Regards Colin.

Thanks Colin! :D

When do you all think I should start trimming? I was thinking of waiting a while.

Hi Mr Hanami,
I should wait a couple of weeks to let it get settled in, keep it well watered and when you start to trim it, get away from the ball shape and concentrate on the cloud style by taking a little off the middle of the top off the balls and eventually you will get them spot on, and if you keep trimming them the plant itself will stay about the size it is now.
Mine in that last photo covers about 8 to 10 feet across and it is trimmed to that size otherwise it would completely cover my front garden and it is about 4 to 5 foot high.
The link that you posted of my garden, showed at the righthand side of the moongate at the back,a cloud shaped Juniper well there is actually two of them and they are CUTTINGS of the one in the front garden and they are aprox 10/15 years old.
George.
