Hi All--Blue Jay is often mentioned as one of the bluest varieties. In our garden in probably comes in third, behind Blue Dimples and Halcyon. Planted in a spot that gets very little, if any, direct sun, Blue Jay has had a slow, steady growth rate. In its first five years it measured 10x6, 16x7 , 20x8, 24x10 and 27x15. Zilis lists it at 35x16. Slugs have not damaged the plant even though they have been bothering the neighboring hostas.

Beautiful, Hank!! I hope my Blue Jay will start getting some size on it now that it has a new location with no root competition. It's one of the most intensely blue hostas I have here. Not the darkest blue though. This year the winner in that category is definitely Camelot.

My Blue Jay is pretty blue first thing in the spring and early summer. One of my favorite blues. It does lose its wax coating by late summer. Planted in 2007.
