After our bad luck with cats this year I really didn't want to get another one, but the rabbits have taken over and I can't even imagine how bad the mice and voles will be this winter
so we have been talking about visiting the humane society to find a new one.Yet it seems like that may not be needed. Over two weeks ago a cat showed up at our neighbors and has been living under his trailer. He fed it a little, but after a week and half it wouldn't leave and he couldn't take care of it. So we were asked if we wanted it.
Our other neighbor brought it over in a cage and at first glance she looked really sick. She was missing a lot of fur from her belly and back legs and was totally emaciated. She had fleas really bad, and worms, so we immediately gave her some Frontline Plus and a dewormer.
She has been declawed and also looks like she had been spayed, so at some time must have been a pet. We made a found cat report at the local vet and local pet rescue, but we haven't heard anything.
After a week now she is doing better, although she still doesn't know what to think of our other 2 cats. She is eating well, and putting on weight. The first 3 days she just slept, but now she is playing and is much more active. We are still keeping her away from the other cats and keeping their food separate just in case she is still sick. She will get a vet visit very soon to be checked out thoroughly, but our vet is away for a few days.
The strange thing is, she does NOT want to go outside. The other day one of the doors was left open and when I went back to the house she was just sitting in the open doorway looking out. She had no interest in leaving the house, so I really think she had been an indoor cat.
Anyway, sorry for the long rambling. Although I didn't want another black cat, here she is. We've named her Maddie.
Hey what's wrong with black cats?? 
She's a beauty guys! I think after she's feeling like she's 'one of the family' she'll be more apt to wander outside. I wonder if she escaped from someone moving or was left behind, or came back to where she had lived after they moved and has been on her own a while.
