Pic of the Day--True Blue

Post by Hank Zumach »

Hi All--True Blue is another variety that is a good, dependable performer. It has been trouble free in our garden. Slugs don't like it at all, it holds it's blue overcast, and looks good right up until frost. It produced some nice seedlings for me the one year I decided to grow them. I purchased the plant in 1994 and have it growing on the north side of our home but it does get some afternoon sun for a few weeks when the sun is farthest north. Over a five year period its size just varied a bit, measuring 54x26, 55x29, 50x24, 54x24 and 42x23. Zilis lists it at 52x23.

You have some really nice blues Hank. This year I went on a blue buying frenzy....and might have something to show for it in a couple of years....

Hank, your True Blue is lovely! This is a very special hosta to me , as it is the one and only hosta that my DH has purchased all by himself for me! He gave it to me as a birthday gift one year, along with The Hosta Handbook! :D

Just visited the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens, Niagara Falls, Ontario. Saw these True Blue hosta. I'd say they are holding up real well considering its the end of August.
