Hi All--The plants for today and tomorrow are both Loyalist sports introduced by John Clifford. Clifford's Stingray has a very strong contrast in the colors of it variegation. For me, this contrast makes it hard to overlook the plant when I'm walking through our Friendship Garden even though Clifford's Stingray is a small plant. It has measured 7x6 and 9x8 in its two years here. Its registration size is 12x12. The soil spotting seen on the leaves in the 2nd photo is not from speckling. Speckled leaves are for tomorrow's plant.

Do you think that Hosta 'Americana' will grow up to be the same plant? That one is also billed as a thin centered sport of Hosta 'Loyalist', much like H. 'Revolution' is a speckled center of H. 'Loyalist' (just like H. 'Cliffords Comet').
As always there can be a lot of variation from plant to plant but I'm wondering if these are very similar cultivars too.

Clifford's Stingray
3 beautiful specimens of Clifford's Stingray were the hit of the ROHS (Russ O'Hara Hosta Society) 2007 summer
acution.
They were so perfect they hardly looked real.
One of the tour gardens had CS growing. It was perfect too!
Knock-Out plant!
