Pic of the Day--Fireworks
Hi All--Today's plant, Fireworks, was added to our garden this past summer. It is also a relatively recent addition to hostadom, being registered in 2001 by Walters Gardens as a sport of Loyalist. I like clumps that are a bit unruly and Fireworks certainly has that characteristic. I also like the fact that, even with a lot of white tissue, the plant did not deteriorate. Growing in a spot that might get 2 hours of sun, the plant measured 12x8, a bit bigger than the registration size of 10x8.

So you like them unruly? INteresting! I ususally like my hosta to behave!
Cute little plant. I've missed so many, it will take days to see them all! So I'll say thanks again here for your POTD and go to view them now

Your Fireworks looks picture perfect Hank
This is one that I like, but don't like selling it by mail, because it seems people are expecting something bigger. I've received more complaints from Fireworks than just about any other plant I've shipped. People were upset because it was so tiny and never got any bigger, but as we know it is considered a Mini hosta, and with this much white in such a small hosta we can pretty much tell it is going to be a very slow grower, which it has been.
Still, for the type, size, and color pattern this can be a nice little plant

Sounds just about perfect to me. Haven't got space for many more except mini's unless I start giving away the ones that don't perform for me.

I lik eit a lot, it's a plant with good substance, that holds on very long compared to a lot of other white centered (mini) hosta, it has a very nice coloration as well. People shouldn't complain on this oneChris_W wrote:Your Fireworks looks picture perfect Hank
