How to bring a hosta out of dormancy?

Post by baja220 »

Do you just bring it in to get warm and give it some water and light or gradually do it? I have one in a pot outside and I wanna see some green. :P Does it hurt anything?

Debbie that would be fine but you are growing seedlings inside and I would keep an eye out for fugus gnats that may be in the potted plant from outdoors. Well their eggs in them anyway.

I bring one indoor every year.

Not the same hosta, but one.
I bring it to the coolest room I have for 2 weeks or so, then it go to the kichen window. I keep it in the pot and wih the old soil until it have a good eye, then I give it new fresh soil.
Do not have my seedlings in the same room, but never had any troubles.

Good luck

Thanks for the info!!

Jeff, I brought it in, but not where my seedlings are growing. They're in a closed room. I also watered the one I brought in from outside with Gnatrol so maybe that'll help with the gnats.
