Hosta of the days -'Touch of Class' - post your pics
Here's a new one for today - 'Touch of Class'. This one looked better in the spring before I dropped spade onto it.

This is by far one of the best selling plants here. They sure look different depending on their age and time of year but look great all the time. If I had a personal top 10 list put together this one would be on there for sure
Re: Hosta of the days -'Touch of Class' - post your pics
Mine was new in 2004 although the first place I had it was too dark and dry. Moved it in 2008 and it has done better, but it's a slow grower for sure - at least for me.

One of the best things about this hosta is that it lasts WAY into the fall. We like it so much that we featured it around our fountain.

Phil_and_Gayle - your pictures looks like you indeed have a hosta heaven. Lovely! Wish I had that kind of space.

This one is a 'favorites' chart topper for me, too. I may have a pic on my other computer..I'll look!
I have not replied or added to many of your hosta of the day posts, Ann, but I've looked at all of them
and I really appreciate you starting this! Thank you !!!!!

In the spring of 2010, my TOC developed a section that turned blue and Chris said I could likely call it 'Bulletproof'; so I did. I separated it out, destroying all the buds on the eyes in the process, but planted it in another section of the garden. I now have one I'm calling 'Bulletproof' and one eye developed a bit of the TOC colouring, but not in the centre. This spring I separated those two eyes and here they are.

I thought I'd also share a pic of the garden pavilion that we're building above the gardens on the west side of the house. It's not complete yet but you can get a feel for it. The view from the pavilion overlooks the fountain bed that was shown above.

This hosta has been on my list the past few years and somehow I've never picked it up. These photos may nudge me over the edge, though. You bunch of enablers, you!

Interesting how different it looks a bit more south. Does yours get some sun? Mine gets a bit in early morning, but not much the rest of the day.

The first is in bright shade maybe all day. The second gets some direct sun in the afternoon. I might get out my good camera and see if it picks up the colors differently.

Here are the same two with a better camera but the sun was causing some problems. I also added a couple shots of a third one which is in more shade than the other two.

Name: H. 'Touch of Class'
Description: Intense blue leaves set off by a striking yellow-gold centre. A green colour is created where the gold and blue overlap on these upright thick leaves.
Size: Small (16"w x 7"h)
Origin: Sport of H. 'June'
Flowers: Pale lavender, bell-shaped in late summer
Source: Budd Gardens
Added to garden: Spring 2004
Notes: This hosta is patented. Mine seems to have more 'Bulletproof' in it. I guess it will be time for surgery again in the spring.

Re: Hosta of the days -'Touch of Class' - post your pics
'Touch of Class' is a favorite of mine. I planted it in 2007 and this picture was taken on June 9 after a refreshing rainfall. I planted Frosted Mouse Ears to the right and Mighty Mouse to the left. The mice have been slow to increase.
