Name: H. 'Invincible'

Description: Tightly massed, 4" long leaves are bright glossy green, slightly wavy. Rapid grower.
Size: Medium - larger than stated in the Hosta Registry
Origin: H. 'Aden 314' x H. 'Aden 802'
Flowers: Fragrant, almost white flowers in summer. Scape has inflorescence leaves
Added to garden: September 2005
Notes: one of the earliest to emerge in spring. I like the glossy green leaves.

I've had mine since 2008 and it's been a great grower, but MAN, what a slug magnet -makes you wonder why the name was chosen!

Here's one of mine in mid-August.

We really love this hardy guy. For us the name is very appropriate.

Such a pretty plant. And such a shame that it's always full of slug holes by the time it gets covered in bloom. This picture mid-July 2014. I will resize and upload one of it in bloom.

2015. The end of the road for this one. I DO like the shiny green leaves, but it is attacked so badly by the slugs and real estate in my garden is so limited, I've decided it has to go. It will be dug, divided, and potted this autumn and off to Hort. Society sale next spring. This pic July 03.

This pic Aug. 13 when it was blooming but also full of slug holes - and those slug holes have gotten worse.

I got rid of my Invincible today. Just couldn't stand how it looks every year once August hits, all those insect holes.

2016 - I got rid of most of mine, but one division got left at the back of my veggie garden and it thrived. Of course, it was a relatively dry season, but I had far less slug damage than in its previous location. Not sure whether I'll keep this long-term though.

2017 - It's still at the back of my veggie garden and still doing much better than it did in the hosta garden. Aug. 15, 2017.
