Post by redcrx »

This is a late flowering plant. Zilis notes that is has "Hosta longipes background".

I have shown this one before and decided to do a spread on it.
I got it from Chris as a bonus in 2008. It's been moved so it's not as big as it should be.

As a point of interest the anthers are green. I went through my flower photos of plants with a longipes background and virtually all have purple anthers. The only exception is Corkscrew which is a cross of 'Tortifrons' x 'One Man's Treasure'. OMT is a longipes f. hypoglauca seedling - hence the longipes background. 'Torifrons' is 'Tardiflora' sport. Tardiflora does have green anthers.
Here is Tardiflora today as it is just starting to open its flowers.

That vine-thing in the photo is a cherry tomato volunteer that has taken over that space and made a mess of my hosta - but the tomatoes are good.
