'Kaleidochrome' is a streaky 'longipes' seedling.

This is an interesting looking hosta. I would have had flowers this season if the deer didn't devour this part of my garden.

Here are a few photos of this Kaleidochrome from the 2013 season. I missed the flowers again - probably rabbits chopping off the scape.

Thats a really nice looking Hosta, thinking about getting one-yours is beautiful.
Re: Hosta of the Day - 'Kaleidochrome'
Here it is today. The rain just stopped. This plant has been here since this garden was planted in 2010. The plants around it were planted the same time.
Here is the group cluster with a Gold Standard sport and Joker - the two large green ones at the top. Sarah's Sensation is to the right of them. The bottom row has a nakaiana, a montana Shunko Nishiki (late coming up) that looks and acts like On Stage, and Kaleidochrome. A better view of Shunko Nishiki, Kaleidochrome and Sarah's Sensation. A close-up of a Kaleidochrome leaf showing the rippled edge. The database talks about this plant being a longipes seedling but the write-up also mentions that it looks like a montana.
I have a streaked montana, that I got from Asiatica Gardens before they closed, growing in the same area that looks very similar. I need to see them flower together.
That's the Sarah's Sensation to the left. The little green ones on the right and above are clausa doing its thing and running like a weed. Here is a leaf close-up showing the ripped edge.

Re: Hosta of the Day - 'Kaleidochrome'
You have really great combinations together-each one shows up on its own. I have to move some of mine as they look too much like the ones next to them. Can't take pics today its still pouring outside here.
Re: Hosta of the Day - 'Kaleidochrome'
Here is Kaleidochrome today. It's growing "flat" for some reason - maybe not enough water.
Here is group cluster.
I showed a 'look-a-like' last season labeled "montana wild variegated". I potted it last season and it survived.

Re: Hosta of the Day - 'Kaleidochrome'
It just dawned on me that this is a montana and not longipes. longipes are late flowering and I have Kaleidochrome in bud in 2013 in early July.
I went back and looked at photos and I have a shot (a little blurred) of the montana at the same time in bud. Here is Kaleidochrome the same day (this photo was shown before) in bud also. Here is the group scene a little earlier that season.
Kaleidochrome is bottom/center while the montana is top/right with Sarah's Sensation between them.
