Hosta of the Day - Dream Queen

Post by redcrx »

Dream Queen is a sport of Great Expectations.

Hosta Registry - not registered
MyHostas Database - http://myhostas.be/db/hostas/Dream+Queen
Hosta Library - http://www.hostalibrary.org/d/dreamqueen.html

This is one of the oldest in my garden going back to 2008. I have two - one sits next to Elegans and the other sits in my Striptease sport garden but DQ is not a Striptease sport.
The one with the Striptease family is a lot bigger.
Here are some photos from 2012 season.
Here is the big one:

Ed and Paul, lovely Dream Queens there. Mine is one year older (planted in 2007) than Ed's larger one but it gets a lot of competition for nutrients from the spruce it's planted under.

I think one of my Dream Queen is really Great Expectations. The center is really wide this season.

That does look more like a GE than DQ to me too. My DQ has the much greater blue border but ater 3 years is still only one eye. Amazed it's lasted this long to be honest. My GE ghas gone from 2 eyes to 6 this year !!!!!!!!!!
