Hosta 'Eye Never' - A Hallson Gardens hosta introductions
We've had this one for years now, and having to explain to people that this is a one of a kind plant just about every day is getting more and more difficult. Nobody will take no for an answer, so we are going to register it and divide it up for next year.
This wide margined sport of Hosta 'Eye Declare' was found several years ago (I'd have to look back through my old posts to find out exactly when) and I think I have finally settled on a name.
What do you think about Hosta 'Eye Never'?
One interesting thing about this plant is that it always has dome shaped, reverse cupped leaves:

Good to have leaves that don't collect crap in their cups.

Looks great Chris, like the name too. Winner, winner.
Re: Another of our next hosta introductions
lovely plant... and I like the name... though it does have a "negative" in it, it has a little sassy tone that might sell...
I like "Eye Do!" a little better. (might produce some wedding/anniversary sales...)

Nice colors and the reverse cupped leaves

Thanks
'Eye Do' was on the short list, but I decided to go a bit sassy

I was thinking the same. Have decided there's no such thing as a neat, mature tree. Nice hosta!Good to have leaves that don't collect crap in their cups.

It's a beauty, Chris. I'm glad you're going to do something with it. And I like the name.

Is it too early to add it to the Index?

Glad to hear it Lynn! Do you think this is something that would be worth putting into tissue culture? I know the reply from Walters will probably be "we have this already", but it still might be worth looking into What do you think?

Well, Chris, I've only had it a few months, but it sure is a nice plant. If it grows well next year(and no reason to think it won't), then it should definitely be sliced and diced I will let you know how it does over here. Keep up the good work!

'Eye Declare' has been a bit slow for me, but is finally reaching a nice size. It would seem that this one might grow a little faster, with the extra green.
I've had trouble growing 'Sea Fire', but finally have it coming along. 'Saint Elmo's Fire' died out altogether and I haven't replaced it. Your 'Eye Never' might be just the ticket for people who have trouble growing the rest of the family. I'd vote for tissue culturing that one.
