The MyHostas Database lists this as a 'Fortunei' sport which I thought was odd when I read it. This looks nothing like a Fortunei and it is flowering too early for a Fortunei. Zilis in "The Hostapedia" writes that the origin is a sport of a seedling.
I think it is a great looking plant. I think it has better color with some shade - this one is growing in virtually full sun.
It has an all yellow sport named Straight Flush. I think mine is putting out a yellow piece.
