Anyone growing Foxfire Palm Sunday

Post by redcrx »

and noticed little "tails" at the base of some leaves.

I have had this interesting looking hosta for a couple of years - hopefully it will flower this season.

Here it is early in the season before the leaves stretch-out:

I wonder if the "stretching" causes the base of the leaf to separate.

I have 3-4 plants left and will check them but, off the top of my head, I would say there are none because surely I would have noticed!

I can see why you like it. Looks like the separation you mentioned earlier has worked itself out. I've only seen one in person back in the spring of 2012 and it caught my eye then. Your plant confirms how nice it is.

Plant I saw in 2012.

I can't believe I didn't get an individual picture last season. Here are two group shots.

With Gaucamole top/left (with a dark green sport coming off of it), Fragrant Bouquet top/center, Stained Glass on the top edge to the right. Luna Moth dominates the center/right of the photo. On the right side is a Gypsy Rose and Rosedale Barnie bottom/right corner.

This second shot is a little later in the season and a sightly different angle showing one extra plant - a small "yellow" seedling at the bottom budding-up to flower.

You won't know how to grow a plant successfully until you've killed it a few times.

Most of my Foxfire Palm Sunday are falling apart. Today I noticed this one wasn't going down yet. It gets a lot of sun and is putting an incredibly thick scape.
