Hosta of the Day - Galaxy
I have had 'Galaxy' since 2009. For me it is a slow grower. One of them exploded this season.

It's inside my "downpour" control area - that's what the cinder blocks are for so sometimes it can be in 6 inches of water for a short time. The azalea between them is straggly because it is still recovering from the nasty winter of 2014.

I love Galaxy. I got it in an auction years ago but it bit the dust after a few years.
Re: Hosta of the Day - Galaxy
Here is the same Galaxy in the 2012 season.
And in flower.

Re: Hosta of the Day - Galaxy
Here is another one that went into a trough in late 2011. It wasn't doing too well - may have come of a garden overrun with roots.
The troughs are a little busy in this photo. We could play "Guess the plant".
Roughly there's Miss Ruby, CVG Can Can, Ripple Effect, Rosedale Misty Pathways, Striker, Raspberry Sorbet and others. And early in the 2014 season.
By the end of 2012 it has recovered.

Re: Hosta of the Day - Galaxy
One of my favorites. I have two mature plants in beds and a division in a pot, all of which are just going to start flowering--in fact I just made my first cross on one of them this morning. I have been fortunate in that I have never had to "clean up" my Galaxy. It comes back year after year with good streaking unlike several of my other streakers. Can be a difficult one to set seeds on but probably one of the better streakers to pass on the (what I refer to as) "Galaxy Gold" coloration, that deep, rich gold color. It also passes that rounded leaf shape found in a mature specimen. I noticed that your more recent pics show the rounded leaves as opposed to the pics from '11, '12, & '13 which show them more pointed. Below are two seedlings which are both crosses with "Golden Sculpture". The second pic is one that settled out to an all yellow version (poor job of capturing the color in the pic) which maintained Galaxy's form and I'm hoping with age develops GS's corrugation. The first one is too young to judge what it will look like in the end but I'm very pleased with its streaking.
Thanks for sharing yours and add me to the list that thinks every collection is incomplete without a Galaxy,

I acquired this one new late in 2016. It's looking good so far in 2017. This was taken June 16.

Re: Hosta of the Day - Galaxy
One of my Galaxy has lost streaks and is now the darkest plant in my garden.
With black seed pods.
Maybe I should just rename it "Center of the Galaxy".Ed McHugh, Sicklerville NJ

2017 - July 12. This plant was new to me at the end of the 2016 summer. It grew slowly in 2017 and was attacked by the abundance of slugs in our very wet season, but it survived and it's doing very well so far in 2018.
