Name: H. 'Punky'

Description: Thick, glaucous leaves. Cream to golden yellow centers. Narrow, irregular dark blue-green margin.
Size: Small (12"w x 9"h) but mine is bigger
Origin: Sport of H. 'Blue Wedgwood'
Flowers: Bluish lavender, tubular in late July
Added to garden: Spring 2005
Notes: Leaf centres will be paler when grown in full sun. Average to slow grower.

'Punky' blooming Aug. 9. I nearly missed it because the scape was so short it was completely hidden in the foliage. This is the first time I've ever seen it bloom, but I may have missed it before.

I like this one and it looks great in September when the leaves have lightened - though not as much as on 'Janet' or similar plants.

I've had this one a full 9 years. It hasn't grown fast, but then nothing in the garden where it is has grown fast. I think it's too close to the neighbour's Linden Tree. Picture taken July 16, 2014. I threaten to lift and divide it and try part of it elsewhere, but I don't think it will happen this autumn.
