Hosta of the Day - Standard's Bands

Post by redcrx »

Standard's Bands is a reverse coloration sport of Gold Standard.

This is a plant I registered in 2010. If you look at the topic "Evolution of a Sport"
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=55463
you will see what I think are "clones" of this plant - they all came from the same source where a guy was just cutting up pots and selling them.

My original name for this plant was Gold Standard Rev Var D - just 1 plant. The Var C version mentioned above in "Evolution of a Sport" had 6 plants (one piece is still Gold Standard). There was a B version - two plants with a wimpy edge barely noticeable. There is an H version with a better edge than B but not as good as C. An F version was streaky but may have stabilized - I haven't looked for it in a while.

I was cleaning up around this today and notice the subtle streaking. Normally it's a green center with a gold edge and the edge color fades away.

I keep hoping that I get a decent sport off of it one of these days.
