Hosta of the Day - 'Miss Ruby'
'Miss Ruby' is a hybrid of 'Katsuragawa Beni'.

I have a few of these - some in pots and some in troughs. Here is one that took off in a trough: And a leaf sample of one in a pot showing spots extending into the leaf:

Maybe I should keep my KB and collect seeds from it. I think that's nicer than the parent. My KB is set for all of it to go to plant sales this year as it doesn't thrill me.

'Katsuragawa Beni' is one of Art Wrede's favorite for hybridizing. He had hundreds of seedlings.

Here is a photo of a Miss Ruby with an extra long scape.
There is another Miss Ruby in a round pot at the top/left. That's a Galaxy in a trough at the bottom.

Miss Ruby has finally started to open its flowers. Seems really late this season.

Re: Hosta of the Day - 'Miss Ruby'
I cleaned up my curbside flower bed last season and added a few hosta to the ones already there. Miss Ruby was one of those added. This season its starting out with one of those odd branch structures rather than a normal scape with a bud for really early flowers for this plant.

Freaky foliated scape.

I think it's trying to imitate a Toad Lily.
