Awakening Angel
We bought this last year, so of course didn't see this interesting habit of, well, awakening. In The Hostapedia, Zilis says this plant is notable for its pretty blooms, but I think this is probably more notable.
Ann, this is a new one for the database.

Re: Awakening Angel
I was in my garden this morning cleaning up fallen branches and took this photo.
When I looked at it and compared it to my garden map that big green one in the middle should have been an Elegans weedling that I transferred in there. But this plant has a margin so something is wrong. AND the really big problem is that the dark blue plant on the left isn't on my map. Luckily it had a tag with it - it's Awakening Angel. The green with the margin is Blue River which was on my map just out of place a little. That's Autumn Frost of the right with Bridal Falls in the top/left corner and Dream Maker at the top right.
That odd piece of tarp in the photo is because this garden space had been part of my paths that ran along the fence when the garden was first set up. At some point this part of the path "moved" a few feet away from the fence (that part of the path was changed from a shape angle to a curve). That left a thin strip of space to add more hosta and to try to contain excess run-off during bad storms - that's the cinder blocks you see at the bottom/right of the first photo.

Re: Awakening Angel
Myhostas.net describes AW as "pancake shaped" - living up to her description.

Re: Awakening Angel
I didn't realize there was a "pancake shape" for a hosta description. Now I know what to call some others with that form.

Awakening Angel, one of my all time favs. I purchased her as just a little thing knowing nothing about her. So glad I did. Just looking at her makes me smile.
Re: Awakening Angel
My Awakening Angel is still small - probably not enough sun.
