Name: H. 'Country Mouse'

Description: Tiny heart-shaped, blue-green leaves are surrounded by a pure white margin, forming a nearly flat clump.
Size: Mini (9"w x 3"h)
Origin: Hosta H. 'Bill Dress's Blue' (H. Hansen)
Flowers: pale lavender bell-shaped flowers mid-summer on 15" scape.
Added to garden: Spring 2007
Notes: Its diminutive size lends itself for use in rock gardens, containers and along woodland pathways.

I have this one in a planter with my other "mice" though it's from a totally different family. (BTW, I'll post all the other mice together in a week or so). This one generally winters in my garden. Its growth rate is good and it forms a very loose mound which often falls apart into separate divisions when I dig it in the spring. As a result, it's not as large as it could be for its age. A cute and very tiny plant.

Still one of my favourite mini hostas.

The 'Country Mouse' shown above died winter 2012-13. I had put the large planter it was in into my screened porch and I lost about half of the plants in it. This is a replacement plant, new 2013, which is doing very well.

2015 - this one is grown in a planter with my BME family. It IS a mouse, after all. It has grown a lot. This picture June 21.

2017 update. I took a couple of divisions from this one but it continues to do well.
