Hosta of the Day - Dubious Behavior
Dubious Behavior is a sport of Hanky Panky. The leaves are more rounded and faintly streaked with a thinner edge than Hanky Panky. The plant does switch its colors during the season.
This is one of my Striptease family sports. I have been showing this plant on this forum since it sprouted in 2010: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=53093
And an extensive topic a couple of years ago: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=54441
When I was looking for a name for this plant, I looked at the definition of Hanky Panky and one of the phrases used was "Legally Dubious Behavior". I liked the sound of that but the "Legally" seemed to make it too long so I dropped it.

Many of these photos are duplicates of the ones shown here over the years. I just wanted to make a formal HotD and tie them together. The plant has evolved over the years.
Here is Dubious Behavior in 2010. Same leaf as above Same leaf as above The piece was split off and moved. That's Lapdance on the left.

Re: Hosta of the Day - Dubious Behavior
I dug up Dubious Behavior last season and potted it. I ended up with two pots
This year it came back looking ugly - I think it got frosted this Spring so the leaves didn't develop properly. I have a couple of other plants where the same thing happened.

At the end of last season I put one of the separated pots into the same spot as original plant. It's coming up looking a lot better than it did last season.

Re: Hosta of the Day - Dubious Behavior
Just noticed the color flipped sometime in late May or early June.
I'm not seeing much of the "pastel" coloration I have seen in previous seasons. I hope it doesn't lose that as it matures.
Or maybe they just show earlier in the season before it does its color change and the change "washes-out" the pastel highlights.
Here is May 10 and July 13.

Re: Hosta of the Day - Dubious Behavior
Late season - the first photo is the original plant but I have a piece growing in a lot of sun and it doesn't get the leaf colors what it gets are flowers and it has a couple of really late scapes.
