Some sites in the garden
I moved my tropicals out of the garage yesterday. The clivia are well into flower.

And what's always fun is to find a plant changing.
This is an Art Wrede seedling that Roger Smith let me have. I labeled it "All Plain Green" when I got it.
That's China Girl growing crazy and crushing to others in that trough - Fruit Punch left and Lakeside Cranberry Relish on the right.
This is Frosted Treasure - One of Art Wrede's #102 seedlings. I posted some photos of this one from last season in the topics "Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection" and "What's in a Name?".viewtopic.php?f=1&t=57978&hilit=art+wre ... 40#p500411

Some new things:
While doing some raking I came upon some cup mushrooms near Inspire Greatness. A grouping with a fern and 2 trillium with Red October bottom/right and a yellow weedling center:

Finally got my big area cleared out. Only the back fence is left. Then I can start cleaning the troughs.
My center area, the area above is to the right. View to the left with my bridge - with troughs and pots and my butterfly garden.

Re: Some sites in the garden
That's looking really nice, Ed. We did a lot of clearing out in our woods last year, but won't be putting hostas there. It's clay about 3" down!
Re: Some sites in the garden
While clearing out around my mailbox Monday night, I "sprained" my left shoulder somehow. It hurt like crazy yesterday. Went to the doctor - he said rest and naproxen. So I'm not weeding, raking, potting for a few days.
But I can still take pictures. Typing is a little slow.
This is the reverse angle of the last one yesterday. This is along the back edge with troughs. This is one of my Azalea Gardens with the Tiara group off to the right.

Re: Some sites in the garden
A few photos today.
I have given up on one of my garden spots. I have lost too many hosta in there - too much root competition from a swamp maple and other things. A few hosta are still holding there own - Miss Linda Smith, Purple Heart, Iron Gate Supreme, Undulata Erromena (never had a problem there), Twilight, and a Mount Tom that's losing the battle. I'm just going to left the weedlings have it - Johnny Jump Up, Red Cardinal Flowers (the hummingbirds will love this), one odd Foxglove, Columbine, Butterfly Bush (these pop-up everywhere) and maybe a Lupine. I'll keep the other "junk" out. There is a hosta weedling in there also.
I think this is a Lupine. Another scene today. That's Majestic on the far right. And a close-up of some in the photo above.

Re: Some sites in the garden
I was cleaning out my front lawn garden today - got it half done. It's overrun with white flowered violets.
The azaleas are well into flower. I had expected them to be early because of the warm March but they weren't. That's Deliverance peeking out between the azalea and Lacy Belle with a Lakeside Miss Muffett to the right. Lacy Belle and Lakeside Miss Muffett and Fujibotan and Suger Babe with a couple of weedlings in front.

Some sites today.
Mr Blue and Volcano Island in my Butterfly Garden area. I think that's Red Dog between them.
That's Yoshinogawa bottom left corner. Stir It Up far left and Mr Red Genes and Harry van de Laar and Riptide right. I think that's a Grand Tiara in there too.

Re: Some sites in the garden
Finally finished my Lawn Garden yesterday.
The Striptease in there is huge - gets a lot of sun and water. That's Kinbuchi Tachi to the left - it likes it there too and is dumping weedlings. Grand Marquee and First Frost and lots of others. These are just to the right of Striptease. Three Tokudama Aureonebulosa - slow growers. When I planned this space I was going to put H. Bright Lights in here but couldn't find any. These work just as well. That's Yellow River on the left and SILVER STAR on the right. This is the opposite side of the big Striptease. Just behind the SILVER STAR is the Kinbuchi Tachi that's next to the Striptease. I planted these together to see if I could tell any difference - I can't. Dick Ward left and Yellow River right - the Liberty center-front looks horrible I think it got hit with frost.

Re: Some sites in the garden
While adding to the HotD topic about Niko, I mentioned an overgrown area in my yard. I was going to attach these photos there but realized it made more sense to post them here as one of my garden sites. This space never gets traffic so I ignore it especially after the fence went up. It has huge Weigela that have been there for decades which are now in flower and with different colors (shades of pink) they flower in succession. One is so heavy with flowers the branch is sitting on some of my hosta. The space is overgrown with red cardinal flower seedlings, bee balm seedlings and darn violets beside a few weeds that try to exist there.
This view is looking into the yard from the fence. The garden is on the left. The Seducer and June mentioned in the Niko topic.

Re: Some sites in the garden
I have been debating the use of "sites" in this topics or did I want to use "sights". I'm still thinking "sites" because I'm showing places in the garden like my garden debris dump site rather then the sight of my garden debris.
Oh well, here are a few more photos. Some of the azaleas are really showing off.
Azalea Autumn Royalty with H. Stir It Up up front and my bridge with some tropical orchids off to the right. Azalea Autumn Twist in my "Butterfly Garden" and my toughs with a "big" gold weedling in the path. Same Azalea Autumn Royalty opposite side with more troughs. Same Azalea Autumn Royalty from the entryway of my garden with Touch of Class and Autumn Frost on the left, and a large Vulcan on the right. Just in front of the azalea (center of the frame) is Majestic and Miss Linda Smith. One of my Striptease sport areas. That's Ohh La La front/right (not a Striptease type but the name fits). There's Cabaret, Hanky Panky, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini and a few others - I have shown this grouping in the past it just looks nice this time of season.

I would love to come visit someday and see the sites in person.
Re: Some sites in the garden
Carol, if you get to the Philadelphia area send me a PM.
The later flowering hosta are well into bloom. Some of the plants look a little beat-up. The last couple of days I have noticed the Autumn flowering Azaleas are starting up - this adds a new color dimension to the garden. This large Azalea is just behind the group in the previous photo. This is a photo from yesterday when I started to notice the Azaleas were coming back into flower.
